Description

German Hefeweizen Extract Beer Kit

German Hefeweizen is a traditional pale Bavarian weizen or wheat beer with soft, bready, and slightly-sweet malt character. Our German Hefeweizen extract beer kit is crafted from the highest quality extract and German’s finest noble hop variety. We recommended the liquid yeast options for this recipe to better replicate the distinctive clove and banana flavours, however, the dry option will still produce some nice subtle character. A fantastic recipe for beginner-level extract brewers who enjoy German-style wheat beers.

Please note: Yeast is now sold separately. Strain options linked above.

Our hefeweizen extract kit includes:

  • A 5.25 lb. bag of Bavarian wheat dry malt extract
  • A bittering hop addition
  • Priming sugar (choose option above)
  • German hefeweizen extract recipe document
  • Basic extract brewing instructions document

Experience level: Beginner
Target batch size: 5.25 gal (20 l) into the fermenter
Target ABV (alcohol by volume): 5.0 %
SRM (beer colour): 11
IBU (international bittering units): 4

I chose the liquid yeast option, and I was left with a very well balanced hef. Dangerously drinkable, and as good as any Hef I have had.

My neighbour thinks I should start a brewery, haha, this beer is good!

The first beer I ever brewed. Excellent instructions and very easy to make. Quite tasty, too!
